Zombies, Bears and other things.

Greetings all on this eve of New Years Eve!  Those who feel the pulse and flow of our Earth's engeries will probably be sensing the change in the air.  We are at the end of a 26,000 year precession of planets, wobbling our planetary way through the deep end of the milky way and about to start out on a new wave of orbits and adventures.  What does this have to do with crafts or minis or such?  New boldness friends!!  To face those old 'I could never do that' fears, to shake off the 'I can't make that as well as her/him so I won't try'.  If our solar system can zoom through space I can try something new!

And so....  Another random craft supply purchase way back in 2010 was brought to life last month in this little fella, now named Alejandro.

Alejandro is needle-felted.  My first needle-felting project.  I used the kit by Living Felt.
You can purchase it in a couple of different colour schemes.  You get everything you need to start out: wool, felting needles, thread for jointing, beads for eyes.

For two years I put it off and put it off because needle-felting was so outside my experience and my "what if I can't do it and it looks stupid" kept winning out.  Until a couple months back when I strode purposefully to that hallway cupboard where all mini supplies go to hide, grabbed my kit, pulled all the bits and pieces out, took several long breaths and started stabbing.  I was quite prepared for him to turn out looking like some scarey zombie bear the likes of which only a mother can love... but he surprised me.

I wish a happy and adventurous New Year to you all.  May you boldly go where you have never gone before!
